A Tribe for Jazz partners with Exclusive Excursions to present The Nap Concert™
Created by Exclusive Excursions in collaboration with A Tribe for Jazz, The Nap Concert™ is an immersive experience that brings music, science, and restorative practices together.
And yes—it is exactly what it sounds like: a live acoustic concert where you are invited to take a nap.
The experience begins with refreshment and gathering during a Sound Bath before participants settle into comfortable resting spaces (pod beds or blow-up mats) while live music and restorative soundscapes create an environment for stillness, reflection, and renewal. The experience features a rotating roster of acclaimed musicians, along with sound bath artist Sharmane Bias. Through live jazz, harp, and carefully curated sound, The Nap Concert™ invites the nervous system to soften, the body to restore, and the mind to wander.
Rest as a Collective Practice
Through sound, The Nap Concert™ invites people to reconnect with rest as a collective healing practice—not merely personal self-care, but a radical reimagining of workplace wellness and a shared return to presence, creativity, and wholeness.
Guests are free to listen deeply, close their eyes, drift off, or simply be present. There is no pressure to experience the music in a particular way. Rest is not a distraction from the performance; it is part of the experience.
A Tribe for Jazz’s Role
As Artistic Director, A Tribe for Jazz curates the musical experience and brings together artists whose work can create space for reflection, connection, and restoration. Our role is to ensure that the music is not simply background, but an essential part of the experience’s emotional and restorative journey.
At A Tribe for Jazz, we believe music is more than performance—it is a catalyst for healing, belonging, and community well-being. This collaboration reflects our broader commitment to advancing the role of the arts in health and wellness.
From our Exploration series to partnerships with Columbus State Community College and OhioHealth, we have intentionally created opportunities that connect music with learning, healing, and community well-being. Our collaboration with Exclusive Excursions continues that trajectory, demonstrating how artistic experiences and scientific research can work together to support restorative health and deepen our understanding of the role the arts play in improving lives.
The Nap Concert™ offers something increasingly rare: permission to pause, rest together, and experience what becomes possible when music helps us slow down.
The Nap Concert™ launched in September 2025 and featured bassist Bradley Mellen. The Spring 2026 concert featured harpist Trista Hill.
