The Nap Concert™ Expands Beyond Columbus to Lexington, Kentucky
A Tribe for Jazz is honored to partner with Exclusive Excursions and the University of Kentucky's Cognition Health and Sleep Equity (CHaSE) Lab to bring The Nap Concert™ to The Rest Carnival in Lexington, Kentucky. This collaboration marks an exciting milestone as The Nap Concert™ makes its first presentation outside of Columbus, Ohio, reflecting the continued growth of an innovative experience created by L. Elizabeth Wangugi, founder of Exclusive Excursions.
Designed to support deep rest and relaxation through sound, The Nap Concert™ is an immersive live experience presented in collaboration with A Tribe for Jazz. The August 22nd experience features acclaimed harpist Trista Hill and sound bath artist Sharmane Bias, participants are invited to settle into a comfortable resting space while live harp and restorative soundscapes create an environment for stillness, reflection, and renewal.
At A Tribe for Jazz, we believe music is more than performance—it is a catalyst for healing, connection, and community. Our partnership with Exclusive Excursions and the University of Kentucky CHaSE Lab reflects our commitment to advancing innovative collaborations where the arts help shape healthier, more resilient communities.
The Rest Carnival also features an inspiring lineup of nationally recognized leaders exploring the many dimensions of restoration:
Dr. Raquel Martin – Licensed clinical psychologist, professor, scientist, and host of the Mind Ya Mental podcast. Dr. Martin is nationally recognized for her work advancing health, mental wellness, and equity.
Mia Imani – Artist and researcher whose immersive work explores sleep, dreaming, neuroscience, ancestral knowledge, and emerging technologies.
Black Soil KY Culinary Experience – Curated by Black Soil KY and prepared by Chef Isaiah Screetch, this tasting exhibition celebrates the powerful connections between food, culture, nourishment, and restoration.
Together, the University of Kentucky CHaSE Lab, Exclusive Excursions, and A Tribe for Jazz are creating a unique opportunity where research, creative practice, and community wellness converge. This partnership demonstrates that rest is not simply self-care—it is an essential foundation for healthier individuals, stronger communities, and collective well-being.
